How to Find an Internship in Azerbaijan: Where to Look and How to Apply

An internship is often the fastest route from university to a first job. In Azerbaijan, banks, telecom and IT companies, audit and consulting firms and state bodies all run internship programmes — many of them paid, and many ending with a job offer for the best interns. The hard part is finding them before the deadline passes.

Where to look

  • Hesabla's internship listings: we gather active programmes from across the market in one place, with deadlines and direct apply links. You can also subscribe there to get an email whenever a new programme is added.
  • Job boards: Glorri (filter by internship), JobSearch.az, Tecrube.az and HelloJob.az carry most private-sector programmes.
  • Company career sites: large employers, especially banks, often post internships on their own career portals first.
  • Your university's career centre: many programmes are arranged directly with universities, so follow its announcements.
  • State programmes: public bodies run seasonal internships. For example, the State Tax Service's 2026 summer programme — a 7-day summer camp followed by an 8-week internship — accepted applications from 10 April to 10 May (taxes.gov.az).

When to apply

Company internships are posted throughout the year, and the application window is often short — frequently just two to four weeks. Check listings regularly rather than waiting for a particular season. Summer programmes at large companies and state bodies usually open in spring.

A real internship — or a paid course?

Some "internship programmes" are actually training courses that charge participants a fee. Read the posting carefully: if you are asked to pay (look for phrases such as "iştirak ödənişlidir"), it is a course, not an internship. A genuine internship is either paid — with a stipend or salary — or unpaid, but it never costs you money.

How to make your application stand out

  1. Tailor your CV to the programme. Put relevant courses, projects and your grades near the top — banks and audit firms often ask for your ÜOMG.
  2. Follow the instructions to the letter. Many employers ask you to write the vacancy title in the email subject line; applications that ignore this can easily get lost.
  3. Show your languages. Most postings ask for Azerbaijani plus English and/or Russian. An IELTS result is a simple way to prove your English — check what your scores add up to with our IELTS calculator.
  4. Apply early. Don't leave it to the last day — some employers start interviewing as soon as applications come in.
  5. Prepare for selection. Larger programmes often include online tests, a case study or an assessment day before the final interview.

Paid or unpaid?

Many internships in Azerbaijan pay a monthly stipend or salary, and some programmes run together with the State Employment Agency also include a monthly payment. Others are unpaid but lead to a job offer for successful interns. Check the posting, and if it says nothing about pay, ask at the interview.
