Fluxer describes itself as an open-source messaging and VoIP platform built for friends, groups, and communities, with features such as DMs, group chats, channels, file sharing, voice, video, and screen sharing.

Nerimity is also positioned as an open-source, community-first chat platform designed to provide a feature-rich community experience. Guilded, meanwhile, became known as a gaming-community platform with server tools such as event calendars, forums, and community features.

The growing interest in these platforms shows that users are looking for alternatives that keep the familiar Discord-style structure while offering different approaches to privacy, customization, open-source development, moderation, or community ownership.
